The Methods
1. Rubber gloves
Dog hair sticks to any static electrical surface so use rubber gloves to wipe over the hair and they will begin to stick to the surface. This is a great and fast way to get the job done, especially as most households will have rubber gloves already.

2. Damp cloth and sponges
If you use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe away dog hair, it will work on most surfaces. This is simple and effective but will leave you attempting to then remove the hair from the cloth or sponge you have just used. I would recommend to write off any cloth you use as the designated hair removal cloth.

3. Baking soda
A less well known way to collect dog hair is to sprinkle baking soda on the area (usually carpet), wait 15 minutes for it to take effect then hoover. The baking soda can remove the static electricity that makes the the hair stick to surfaces which then allows them to be removed easier.

4. Sweeping brush with stiff bristles
This is probably the most tried and used method from around the last thousand years for removing dog hair on the floor. It works, however be prepared to put up a fight. Especially good on carpet but from clothes and your car, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see there are easier ways.

5. Masking tape wrapped around your hand or brush.
This seems like a too simple to be true method but its so simple it does work. However, you will have to keep changing the tape by cutting off the old and rewrapping the new, so for large areas it is not the best an can be more exhausting then other methods listed.

6. Hand held vacuum
Perfect for smaller and intricate locations hand held vacuums are great to apply pressure down into the surface which helps gather more hair. Although most households have a normal vacuum cleaner the hand held ones are rarer to come by. However, it is a great investment if you have recently purchased a dog or looking for new ways to remove their hair.

7. Tumble dryer sheets
These sheets contain anti-static properties which like the baking soda help loosen the grip that hair have when stuck to clothes and sofas. These are found in most homes with a washing machine and dryer and are readily available in most shops as well.
